There’s something about spending so much time in the darkness that changes you. Whether you’re reading or writing it, it alters you.
Big. Small. A lot or a little…
I don’t think the amount matters as much as the impact. I think the changes we go through as we’re experiencing these books or scenes heal in their own way. (If that’s where we have wounds.)
I get not everyone reads dark content to work through trauma. Some just enjoy reading it. Some connect with the rise of the FMC. The dark helps some “prepare” or cope with their fears. And some just love a story where chaos is like breathing.
I get it.
I love it.
As I’m currently working on Only Everything, my forbidden dark erotic novella (so far, it might be a novel before it’s over with), I can’t help but love how the unhinged is unfolding. Obsession, possession, pushing lines is like breathing–I seriously can’t get enough. Both characters are a puzzle to me. One, I can’t get enough of trying to piece together. It’s become my own current obsession, and I LOVE Reid and Tauren.
So maybe they’re a bit “unstable”. That’s why I love them so much. They’re not your every day MMC and FMC. They’re real, raw, and they’re screwed up. They’ve both suffered through their life, and they have baggage. Who doesn’t!
No elites.
No billionaires.
Just a cabin, a step brother and sister, and a whole lot of fucked up, HOT darkness.
I’m here for it.
…Are you?
